The embassy in Tripoli provided consular services to expatriates in Benghazi

A delegation of the embassy led by Major General Abul Hasnat Muhammad Khairul Bashar, Bangladesh’s ambassador to Libya, recently visited Libya’s second largest city, Benghazi. During the visit, the delegation was given consular and various welfare services to about two thousand expatriate Bangladeshis living in the eastern part of Libya, including Benghazi.

During the visit, the delegation was given consular and various welfare services to about two thousand expatriate Bangladeshis living in the eastern part of Libya, including Benghazi.

According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli, during the visit of the delegation led by the ambassador, more than seven hundred expatriates completed their digital passport reissue application and six hundred expatriates received the previously applied for digital passport. Apart from issuing travel permits (outpasses) in favor of one and a half hundred expatriates on behalf of the embassy team, a number of expatriates completed the process of receiving various certificates and verifying various documents.

During the visit, the ambassador met with the regional representative of IOM Libya along with various local offices to ensure the welfare of expatriates living in Benghazi. He attended the Eid reunion and Bengali New Year celebrations organized by Bangladeshi expatriates living in Benghazi.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador exchanged Eid and Bengali New Year greetings with the expatriates of various levels. Apart from this, he met the expatriate Bangladeshis working in Benghazi and inquired about their facilities and exchanged views with them on various issues.

During the exchange of views, the ambassador said that the embassy is determined to ensure consular and welfare services for all expatriates living in Libya. Especially considering the current situation in Libya, various initiatives have been taken from the embassy to provide consular and welfare services to expatriates living in the eastern region including Benghazi. For this purpose, the consular team of the embassy is regularly serving in the eastern part of Libya.

The ambassador urged all to be proud partners in the development and progress of the country by sending remittances through legitimate means and to take advantage of the universal expatriate pension scheme. He also urged everyone to work together to protect the interests of the country from their respective positions. The ambassador warns everyone against activities that tarnish the country’s image.
