To support agricultural production, the government is providing modern agricultural machinery through development assistance with 70% subsidy in Howl and southern regions and 50% in other regions with the aim of distributing agricultural machinery to farmers at an easy and low price.
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar gave this information on behalf of Agriculture Minister Abdus Shaheed in response to a supplementary question of Opposition Chief Whip Md Mujibul Haque in the National Parliament on Sunday (May 5).
He said, “The supply of agricultural machinery at this subsidized price will end the labor crisis in Howl area during paddy harvesting. Farmers will be able to harvest their crops in the shortest possible time.
The Minister said, “There is a sector called ‘Agricultural Rehabilitation Assistance’ in the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture. Apart from the agricultural rehabilitation program among the marginal and small farmers of the country, incentive programs are also conducted to encourage the small and marginal farmers to grow various crops from this sector. Free seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other inputs are provided under rehabilitation or incentive programs.”Various programs are undertaken every fiscal year for the overall welfare of the farmers and to make them interested in cultivation of various crops. In this case, the targets of the programs are also increased in view of the need.
