In the marriage market, the demand for BCS officers is the highest among brides
Becoming a Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) officer has become a dream among young graduates in Bangladesh.
Security, good pay and benefits, power, social status and additional earning opportunities are cited by job seekers as the top choice for this first class gazetted government job. Funnily enough, men cite another reason. And that is that in the marriage market, BCS officers are now in the most demand from brides.
And another thing has come up in the context of this marriage. That is, unmarried people are relatively ahead in success in BCS. This information of unmarried people being ahead of the last five BCS results is highlighted. Among these five BCS, 39th and 42nd were special BCS and 40th, 41st and 43rd were general.
According to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) annual report presented in the National Parliament, 85% of the candidates who got jobs in general BCSs are single. And about 56% of the candidates who got jobs in special BCS are single.
According to the report, 43.88% and 45.65% of candidates recommended in 39th and 42nd special BCS are married respectively. 56.12% and 54.35% of those recommended in these two BCS are unmarried respectively.
On the other hand, 14.57%, 16.18% and 11.55% of those who passed 40th BCS, 41st and 43rd BCS are married respectively. On the other hand, 85.43%, 83.82% and 83.45% of the three BCS passers are unmarried respectively.
