Dongfang Knitting Company Limited, a Chinese-owned company, will set up an export-oriented socks manufacturing factory in the country. The factory will be set up in the Bepza Economic Zone located in Mirsrai, Chittagong.

With Chinese investment, there will be a sock making factory in Mirsrai, the budget is 305 crore Tk. | Dongfang Knitting Company Limited, a Chinese-owned company, will set up an export-oriented socks manufacturing factory in the country. The factory will be set up in the Bepza Economic Zone located in Mirsrai, Chittagong.


Dongfang Knitting Company will invest 2 crore 78 lakh US dollars or about 305 crore 80 lakh taka (about 110 taka per dollar) to set up the factory. In this factory, 21 crore 60 lakh pairs of socks will be produced annually. Employment will be 5 thousand 192 Bangladeshi citizens.

To this end, an agreement was signed at the Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) office in the capital last Tuesday (19/03/2024). Bepza Member (Investment Development) Ali Reza Majid and Dongfang Knitting Company Managing Director Fang Zhangdong signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

At that time, Bepza executive chairman Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, member Mohammad Farooq Alam and Md. Ashraful Kabir, Executive Director ANM Faizul Haque and Md. Tanveer Hossain and Bepza Economic Zone Project Director Mohammad Enamul Haque and others were present.

Bepza Executive Chairman Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman thanked Dongfang Knitting for choosing Bepza Economic Zone to set up the factory. He urged to start construction of factories and commercial production there as soon as possible.
