The government announced the import of products throughout the year | Tapan Kanti Ghosh, senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, said that no import ban will be announced from now on. All products will be imported throughout the year to meet the market.

Tapan Kanti Ghosh, senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, said that no import ban will be announced from now on. All products will be imported throughout the year to meet the market.

The commerce secretary said these things at the opening ceremony of the sale of onions imported from India in front of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) building in the capital on Tuesday (April 2).

He said, “If the import of a product is announced, its price increases in the market. So from now on, whenever the price of a product increases in the market, it will be imported immediately.

About the country’s market system, Tapan said, the price of goods in the market is related to demand and supply. But the market of Bangladesh does not follow this equation most of the time. Even after stocking the goods in the godowns, the prices in the market increased.

Regarding Commerce State Minister Ahsanul Islam Titu, the secretary said that since taking charge, the Commerce State Minister has taken it as his jihad to reduce the price of products in the market and stop the manipulation of syndicates. As a part of that, Indian onion has come into the market. It is a diplomatic success for the Minister of State for Commerce to be able to bring in these onions while the ban is still in place.

Tapan also said, “India is not giving onions to anyone; At such a time, the Minister of State for Commerce held a series of meetings with the Ministry of Commerce of India in Abu Dhabi to bring onions to the country’s market. Despite many doubts and challenges, we have finally succeeded.”

Regarding the behavior of the country’s market, the senior secretary said that the trend in which the market is going does not affect it. There is no logic to market behavior. The government is working relentlessly to bring back this rationality.

The Chairman of TBC was also present. Ariful Hasan, Director General of National Consumer Rights Protection Department. H. M. Safikuzzaman and others.
