On Thursday, October 20th, the chief engineer of Ghorashal Thermal Power Station, Jahirul Islam, confirmed the matter. Prior to this, on October 4th, when a power outage was observed in the national grid, units 4 and 5 of Ghorashal were shut down. Although unit 4, which has a capacity of 350 megawatts, was restarted within an hour, unit 5 could not be restarted due to a faulty safety valve.

On the evening of October 10th, the 210 megawatt capacity fifth unit was restarted. However, two days later, on October 12th, it was shut down again.

It should be noted that Ghorashal Thermal Power Station, established on the banks of the Shitalakshya River in 1967, produces an average of 1310 megawatts of electricity daily.
