New rules for Umrah pilgrims

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has made it mandatory for all incoming pilgrims for Umrah (minor pilgrimage) from outside Saudi Arabia to have compulsory Umrah insurance of up to 100,000 Saudi riyals. This decision was confirmed in a statement issued by the ministry on Monday, July 24th.

As per the Gulf News report, it has been stated that for intending pilgrims coming for Umrah from various countries around the world, it is mandatory to deposit an additional amount of money for Umrah insurance. The maximum amount for this insurance is 100,000 Saudi riyals. This insurance will provide coverage for emergency healthcare services, unexpected COVID-19 infections, accidents, death, and ticket purchasing for a new flight in case of flight cancellation, among other benefits.
