Inauguration of Hajj flight from Sylhet

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has started operating dedicated Hajj flights from Sylhet for the convenience of Haj pilgrims. The first dedicated Hajj flight BG-3431 from Sylhet Osmani International Airport departed for Madinah on Saturday (June 3) at 11:54 am. There are 346 pilgrims on this flight. The flight is scheduled to reach Madinah today at 4:10 PM local time.

Biman will operate five dedicated Hajj flights on Sylhet-Jeddah route and one dedicated Hajj flight on Sylhet-Madinah route this year.

In 2023, a total of 122,221 Bangladeshis will travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj pilgrimage. Among them, 61,111 pilgrims will be transported by aircraft.

A total of 162 Hajj flights will be operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines. This year, Biman’s own Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be used alongside Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for the Hajj transportation. The pre-Hajj flights of Biman will conclude on June 22.

In previous years, Biman transported 62,796 pilgrims in 2018, 66,286 pilgrims in 2019, and 30,361 pilgrims in 2022. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hajj travel from Bangladesh was suspended in 2020 and 2021.
