Hafez Kamrul Alam of Sylhet spread fascination in Maldives last year by reciting Quran like Imam of Holy Makkah Abdur Rahman As Sudaisi. Excited by the melody of the Qur’an, he is teaching tarabi at the invitation of the country.
Earlier last year, Hafez Kamrul came to the attention of the higher authorities of Maldives after sharing a video of Quran recitation on social media.
In this regard, he said, in 2022, a member of the Maldives mosque committee found a video of the recitation of the Holy Quran on YouTube. He contacted me through expatriate Bangladeshis. Later in 2023, Fubamullah of the country invited him for Tarabi prayers at Al Inara Mosque. In that continuation, last September they invited for Tarabi this year also through phone. This time he is teaching prayers at Masjid Al-Huda Masjid in Fubamullah City. The mosque is located in the center of the city.
Kamrul Alam is the second child of Mahbubur Rahman and Saheda Begum of Balaganj, Sylhet. He was admitted to the Madrasa while studying in primary school. After the Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examination, he completed Hifjul Qur’an after two years of his own volition. Currently studying in Al-Qur’an and Islamic Studies Department at Sylhet Government Aliya Madrasa.
Expatriate Bangladeshi Hafez Quader Ahmad said, ‘Everyone knows him as the Sudaisi of Bangladesh. A Hafez of our country is leading the Tarawi prayer in Maldives as a state leader, it is a matter of pride for Bangladesh and us.
Hafez Kamrul said that he was impressed by the sincerity and love of the Bangladeshis staying in Maldives and the locals there.
Former Member of Parliament of Maldives Ali Fajad said Hafez Kamrul Alam’s recitation is very calm and soothing. He is one of the best imams to come here for tarabi. Many people came from all over the island to hear him recite. May Allah bless him.
