The government is determined to provide high-speed internet to every home: Minister of State for Telecommunication | State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said that the current government is committed to deliver high-speed broadband internet to every home.He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the Internet service provider's organization ISPAB's own office in Banani of the capital last Monday.At present, the coverage of broadband internet connection in the country has increased to 3 lakh kilometers. In 2006, the coverage of optical fiber connection in the country was only 50 thousand km. After almost 18 years now (2024) its coverage has increased to 350,000 km.Besides, the internet price per Mbps has come down. In 2006, the price of internet per Mbps was 78 thousand taka. To make internet cost-effective and accessible to the masses, internet prices are currently fixed at a minimum of Rs 60 per Mbps.President of ISPAB Imdadul Haque presided over the event, Chairman Engineer Md Mohiuddin Ahmed and General Secretary of ISPAB Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan spoke at the event.Urging the ISP entrepreneurs to install the internet supply cables underground, the IT Minister said, 'We want to take all overhead cables underground to make our city safe. In this regard, ISPAB, NTTN and all concerned should take role.Junaid Ahmed Palak said, following the advice of Architect of Digital Bangladesh Sajib Wazed Joy, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visionary Digital Bangladesh Program has set an exemplary example in the world for the incredible success of Bangladesh in the last 15 years.Later, the State Minister inaugurated the permanent office of ISPAB.
