The Bangabandhu Rail Bridge is visible on the banks of the Yamuna

The entire structure of the 4.8 km Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Rail Bridge is now visible at Muna Bu. A total of 49 spans are placed on 50 pillars. Already railway tracks without sleepers have been laid on the bridge. Along with this, the work of laying the approach double line railway is also progressing at an equal pace. The project officials say that the entire project will be completed within the specified time.

The construction work of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Rail Bridge on the banks of Yamuna is progressing rapidly. Already visible over the river is the entire 4.8 km main structure of the bridge. A total of 49 spans are placed on 50 pillars. Along with this, the work of installing railway lines without sleepers on the span of the bridge is also going on at the same pace.

Ferdous Waheed, Side Engineer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge Project, said that apart from the construction of the main structure of this longest railway bridge in the country, the work of laying the railway track of Approach Dal line is also going on on both sides of the river. The construction of the project is progressing day and night with the tireless efforts of local and foreign engineers and workers. The work of the bridge is going on day and night in two shifts in 24 hours.

Engineer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge Project (Dam and Railway) Mosharraf Hossain said that there is a 4.2 km approach double line facility on the eastern side of the river Tangail. And the west bank of the river is 3.8 km in Sirajganj part. In the meantime, 90 percent of Tangail section and 85 percent of Sirajganj section of approach railway work has been completed.

Project Director Masudur Rahman said that the progress of the whole work of the bridge is quite satisfactory. The work progress of the entire project is 85 percent. He said that there is hope to complete the entire project within the scheduled time i.e. December 2024. JICA is implementing the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Rail Bridge project under construction at a cost of about 16 thousand 781 crores.
