In a news briefing sent by the Department of Posts and Telecommunications, it was stated that the appointed Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh, Alex Berg Von Linde, today (Wednesday) visited the Secretariat and held discussions with the minister in his office.

Junaid Ahmed stated that Bangladesh and Sweden will work together on creating a cashless society, technology transfer, investment promotion, increasing export earnings, creating employment opportunities, and advancing 5G technology.

Junaid Ahmed also urged Sweden to invest more in the telecommunications and information technology sectors, stating that alongside the development of Bangladesh’s telecommunications infrastructure over the next 17 years, Sweden will collaborate in establishing research and development centers at 20 universities in the country.

Regarding knowledge sharing in 5G technology and mutual cooperation in startup sectors, it is expected that Bangladesh-Sweden IT portals will be launched soon. Furthermore, it is hoped that companies like Ericsson, Spotify, Bluetooth, and Volvo will participate in the startup summit scheduled for July.

Ambassador Alex Berg Von Linde of Sweden mentioned that Sweden has made significant strides in innovation and technology in the IT and telecommunications sectors. Among these, Ericsson will continue to be a partner in realizing the vision of a Smart Bangladesh.

Also present at the time were Mahiuddin Ahmed, Chairman of BTRC, Mohammad Golam Sarwar Ikona, Additional Secretary of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications, Sami Ahmed, Managing Director of Startup Bangladesh Limited, and G.S.M. Jafrullah, Managing Director of the Hi-Tech Park Authority, along with other officials from the relevant ministry.
