In view of the implementation of various railway projects in cooperation with China, Railway Minister Zillul Hakim called for China’s continued cooperation in railway development.

The minister made this call during a meeting with Yao Wen, the Chinese ambassador assigned to Dhaka, at Rail Bhawan on Thursday (March 07).

Referring to China’s contribution to the development of Bangladesh Railways, Jillul Hakim said that China has been working in the development of various sectors of Bangladesh including railways for a long time. In the future, China will support Bangladesh and the people of Bangladesh in building Smart Bangladesh as announced by the Prime Minister. He thanked China for its continued cooperation in the development of Bangladesh Railways.

He said that the Prime Minister has expressed keen interest in building a railway line from Bhanga to Payra port via Barisal. The activities of Bangladesh Railway are continuing to implement the project. The minister sought China’s cooperation in this process. Also some other steps have been taken for expansion of railways. There is an opportunity for China’s cooperation in the expansion of the railway line from Akhaura to Sylhet and from Joydevpur to Jamalpur. He said that if China participates in modernizing the railway factories, our work will be easier.

The Chinese ambassador said that after the election, the Prime Minister was congratulated and greeted by the Chinese government for the first time. China will stand by Bangladesh in the future and will continue to cooperate in the development of Bangladesh.
