Various hadiths mention the great rewards of Hajj-Umrah. Performing Umrah in other months of the year gives only the reward of Umrah, but performing Umrah in the month of Ramadan gives the reward of Hajj.

And so many people perform Umrah in this holy month. More than 82 lakh pilgrims have performed Umrah in the ongoing month of Ramadan. However, Saudi Arabia has banned performing Umrah more than once this Ramadan.

Al Arabiya reported this information in a report on Monday (March 25).

According to the report, more than 8 million Muslims performed Umrah in the first half of the holy month of Ramadan, according to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia. This ministry of Saudi said that since the beginning of this holy month, a total of 82 lakh 35 thousand 680 Muslims have performed Umrah.

A large number of Umrah pilgrims from all over the world have come to Medina and Mecca during Ramadan, considered the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, Al Arabiya said.

Basically, during the month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world refrain from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset. It is obligatory for all able-bodied Muslims to perform this worship. Besides, fasting during Ramadan encourages Muslims to focus on spirituality, prayer and charity.

In addition, although Hajj is performed at a certain time of the year, Muslims can perform Umrah at any time of the year. And while not obligatory, Umrah carries spiritual significance for Muslims.

And so, during the holy month of Ramadan, millions of Muslims from inside and outside of Saudi Arabia, that is, from different countries of the world, flock to the Grand Mosque of Makkah to perform Umrah and pray.
