Metrorail running time increased by 1 hour, effective from Wednesday | During the last 15 days of holy fasting, metro rail running time will increase by one hour at night. It will come into force from Wednesday (March 27). Metrorail will return to the previous schedule after fasting.

MAN Siddique, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the Metrorail management company, said this in a press conference at the beginning of the fast. He said that the time of metro rail has been extended thinking about the people who go out for Eid shopping at the end of fasting. However, Metrorail sources said that the number of passengers has decreased slightly during Roja. But the authorities expect it to increase in the end.

According to DMTCL, the last train from Uttara will leave at 9:20 am and the last train from Motijheel will leave at 9:40 am on the 16th day of fasting, Wednesday (March 27). Trains will run every 12 minutes during this last one hour. Metrorail will run more than 10 trips. As a result, if the train runs 184 times on a normal day, it will run 194 times.

In addition, in the month of Ramadan, the opportunity to stay in the ‘paid zone’ is given for 75 minutes instead of 60 minutes in the Rapid Pass or MRT Pass. Allowed to carry 250ml water bottle for Metrorail stationed passengers during Iftar. However, the bottle must be disposed of in a designated place.

Meanwhile, DMTCL has announced to close the metro rail on the holy day of Eid-ul-Fitr this year. Although in previous years, metro rail services were running on Eid.
