Women workers performed all duties from pilot to cabin crew in that flight which left from the aircraft deck at 2.30 pm at Shahjalal International Airport in the capital for Dammam.

Women operated an international flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines for the first time on the occasion of Women’s Day. From the pilot to the ground staff of that flight on the Dhaka-Dammam route, all were women.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has taken such an exceptional initiative on the International Women’s Day by honoring the women officers and employees who have made outstanding contributions of skill and professionalism. On this day, women officers-employees performed the duties of all departments of flight management.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-349 on Dhaka-Dammam route was piloted by Biman senior woman captain Alia Mannan and first officer Fariha Tabassum on Friday (March 8).

Women were also responsible for flight crew briefing, check-in counter, flight coverage, cabin crew and cockpit crew.

This exceptional initiative was taken under the guidance of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director and CEO Shafiul Azim (Additional Secretary).

Women are responsible as General Manager (Administration), General Manager (Public Relations), General Manager (Customer Service), Chief Medical Officer in Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

The airline has 15 experienced female pilots, almost double the international average of 6 percent (10.4) of male and female pilots. There are also trained and skilled 345 women cabin crew.

There are women officers and employees in all branches of Biman Bangladesh Airlines including ground staff, women engineers, women engineering instructors.
