Then on February 8, Tangail saree was recognized as a GI product by the Ministry of Industry.When India recognized the Tangail saree as a GI product of West Bengal, the issue started a lot of debate and criticism. That's when the issue of listing desi GI products came up.The writ petitioner told reporters, directed to submit a list of products that have been registered as GI in Bangladesh and a list of nationally and internationally registrable GI products within one month. March 19 has been fixed for hearing.
