Today is March 17. It is the 104th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the undisputed leader of Bengalis, the architect of independent-sovereign Bangladesh and the father of the nation. The day will be celebrated as National Children’s Day across the country. President Md Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave a message yesterday on the occasion of the day. The President and the Prime Minister are going to Tungipara of Gopalganj today to pay their respects to the father of the nation.

To celebrate the day, the national flag will be hoisted today in all government, semi-government, autonomous and private institutions and educational institutions of the country, including all government and private buildings and Bangladesh missions abroad. On the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birthday and National Children’s Day, President Md Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay tribute by laying wreaths at Bangabandhu’s mausoleum in Tungipara. Awami League’s program on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birthday includes hoisting national and party flags at Bangabandhu Bhavan, central office and all offices of the organization across the country tomorrow at 6:30 am. Tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the historical Bangabandhu Bhavan premises at 32 Dhanmondi at 7 am. On the occasion of the day, at 10:30 am, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay tribute, milad and doa mahfil at the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara, Gopalganj. After this, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will participate in the children’s rally. On the occasion of the day, Awami League has also given a program for tomorrow, March 18. The program includes a discussion meeting at the Dhaka Awami League building in Tejgaon at 11 am. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over the meeting.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on this day on March 17 in Tungipara of Gopalganj subdivision of Faridpur district to father Sheikh Lutfar Rahman and mother Saira Khatun. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the third among four sisters and two brothers. Later, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman became the great architect of the independent-sovereign nation-state called Bangladesh, the greatest Bengali of all time, with his education and humanistic approach, great sense of life, honesty, courage, skill and visionary leadership.
Bangabandhu along with his colleagues formed the Bangladesh Chhatra League in 1948 and later the Awami League in 1949 during the course of 23 years of movement and struggle. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was established as the undisputed leader of the Bengali nation in the historic elections of 1970 after the language movement of 1952, the United Front elections of 1954, the education movement of 1962, the six-point movement of 1966, the popular uprising of 1969 be Bangabandhu’s brave, determined, uncompromising leadership and heroic struggle woke up the Bengali nation, oppressed and oppressed for a hundred years. He united the Bengali nation in the final struggle for freedom by inspiring the indomitable desire for freedom. On the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birthday, special prayers will be held in all religious institutions including mosques, temples, pagodas, churches across the country. These programs include Dua and Milad Mahfil at all mosques in the country including Baad Zohar Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Christian community at Mirpur Baptist Church (3/7-e Senpara, Pawarta, Mirpur-10) at 6 pm, Sabuj Bagh Dharmarajik Buddhist Mahavihar at 10 am and evening At 6 o’clock the Buddhist community at the International Buddhist Vihara in Merul Baddas of the capital and at 11:30 am the Hindu community prayer meeting at Dhakeswari National Temple. Meanwhile, on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birthday and National Children’s Day, Awami League took a program in line with the Central Executive Parliament to celebrate the birthday and National Children’s Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due dignity across the country. Obaidul Quader, general secretary of the party, has called on everyone.
