Chinese-owned Song Shin Leather (BD) Company will set up an export-oriented leather processing plant in the country. The company will construct the factory in Comilla Export Processing Zone (EPZ).
Song Shin Leather will invest 6 million US dollars or about 66 crore taka (about 110 tk. per dollar) to set up the factory. This factory will produce 80 lakh square feet of processed cow and buffalo leather. 100 Bangladeshi citizens will be employed here.
To this end, an agreement was signed at the Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) office in the capital on Wednesday. Bepza Member (Investment Development) Ali Reza Majid and Song Shin Leather General Manager Wang Jingzhao also signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
Bepza executive chairman Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, members Mohammad Farooq Alam and Md. Ashraful Kabir and executive directors Md. Tanveer Hossain, Md. Khurshid Alam, ASM Anwar Parvez and others were present.
