Yesterday, the Minister observed the operations of the Cyber Threat Detection and Response Center at the central office of the Telecommunications Division in Dhaka. Prior to this, during a conference at the Telecommunications Division, Secretary Abu Hena Morshed Zaman, Additional Secretary Mohammad Golam Sarwar E Koyenat, Director-General of the Telecommunications Division M. Rafiqul Islam, and Additional Director-General M. Sahab Uddin were present alongside officials from the Postal and Telecommunication Department.

During the event, Junaid Ahmed Polok emphasized the need for the Telecommunications Division to transform into a capable institution for Smart Bangladesh through short-term, medium-term, and long-term planning, with a focus on its effective implementation.

Polok stated that in 2024, the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has presented a new vision for building a Smart Bangladesh. He highlighted the importance of the five years ahead for the practical implementation of the Prime Minister’s Smart Bangladesh vision of 2041, which envisions the modernization of the Golden Bengal in line with Bangabandhu’s dream.

Referring to the Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy’s inspiration and guidance in 2008, Polok mentioned that after the announcement of the Digital Bangladesh vision, through specific planning, practical implementation, and skilled leadership, Digital Bangladesh has become a role model in the world over the past 15 years.

Polok mentioned that the next 17 years are crucial for realizing the vision of Smart Bangladesh, and the groundwork must be laid in the next five years. The Telecommunications Division’s role in the realization of Smart Bangladesh, based on the four pillars of Smart Citizens, Smart Economy, Smart Society, and Smart Governance, needs to be considered in alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision, shaping our strategic planning.
